Shorter Days, Shorter Blog Posts

It’s that time of year when the days become shorter. You are busy, maybe feeling a little tired. You have little time to work on your blog — and even less on the horizon with the holidays coming up. You’re just not able to write those long posts you want to share with your clients and prospects.

You’re concerned your blog will go into hibernation till January.

But you can keep your blog going by matching the rhythm of the fall season: shorter days, shorter posts.

Value of Short Blog Posts

Your customers are experiencing the same season. They have less time and energy too. Shorter posts are easier for them to take in.

Short posts are great for:

  • Keeping your business in front of your clients and prospects.
  • Letting customers know you’re here to help — like a light in a window on an early dark fall evening.
  • Continuing to build trust.
  • Being easy to share.
  • Showing you are focused on your customer in this busy season and thinking about what they need.

As you continue to share smaller posts regularly, clients will remember you when they need help, even if they don’t have time to look into your products or services till the new year. In January, yours will be the voice they remember, and yours will be the website they’ve bookmarked.

Think Highlights

You can still put a lot of value into a short post. Just hit the highlights without a lot of extra words. Listicles make great short and valuable posts.

Fall is also a good time for a round-up post (best of or top 10) with links and one-paragraph highlights of your top blog posts. A round-up or post helps clients catch up quickly with summaries of longer posts they may have missed. The answer they’re looking for right now might be there in your round-up post.

As the days get shorter and the season gets busier, keep blogging. Keep it short and helpful. Your customers will appreciate knowing you are here for them.
